Handing out free alcohol as a bombonaire gift (wedding favours) had disastrous effects on a recent wedding reception.
While it was a good idea in theory, the practise meant the consumption became 'uncontrolled' - which is the last thing you want at a live event.
Many of the guests, including young ones not used to the imported 10% proof strength, drank their own bottle + their next door neighbours!
There is one way to give alcohol as a 'safe' gift; hand it to your guests as they leave.
